Chair of Private Law and Intellectual Property Law, with Information and IT-Law (German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) Chair)

Apart from general civil law, the Chair is specialised in intellectual property law (in particular copyright and patents) and internet law. A special research focus concerns copyright regulation of the internet as well as legal challenges in the areas of big data and industry 4.0. In patent law, current research focuses on the future European Unitary Patent System, on standard essential patents and patent pools in telecommunication and consumer electronics as well as on specific issues of pharmaceutical patents, indirect patent infringement and other questions of general patent law. Furthermore, extensive research projects have covered unfair competition law as well as fundamental questions regarding general principles of intellectual and industrial property rights.
